Chief Finance Officer and Director of Corporate Services
Sarah joined the RNLI as Chief Finance Officer and Director of Corporate Services in April 2025 from the Royal Navy where she was Finance and Commercial Director, responsible for financial management, governance, financial planning and investment assurance of an annual £8bn budget, reporting to the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff. She also oversaw the provision of procurement policy advice and commercial services and was a member of the Admiralty and Navy Boards and the lead Civil Servant in the Command.
Sarah initially joined the Civil Service in 2013 with roles in the Cabinet Office, Department for Culture Media and Sport and HM Revenue and Customs, moving to the Ministry of Defence in 2018 as Finance Director for Head Office and Strategic Programmes, and subsequently to the Royal Navy in 2020. Prior to joining the Civil Service, Sarah worked for PA Consulting for seven years, and for Jaguar Land Rover.
She is a charismatic leader with a proven track record of leading diverse teams, and building strong working relationships based on trust, integrity and inclusivity. Sarah also has extensive board-level experience in both an executive and non-executive capacity. She is the current Vice Chair of the Advisory Board and Chair of the Finance Committee for Greenwich Hospital where she has played a pivotal role in increasing funds for charitable activities.
Outside work Sarah enjoys wing-foiling, running, skiing, wine tasting, making things in her workshop at home, and is a joint owner of a classic motorboat in need of constant maintenance! Sarah lives in Winchester with her husband.
