RNLI Kinghorn Lifeboat 2025 Diamond Jubilee Open Day
Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat volunteers invite you to their Open Day on Saturday 26th July as they celebrate the 60th year of Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat, and would love to see as many people as possible at the beach.
The Open Day is the station’s annual flagship event and a highlight of the fundraising calendar in Kinghorn. It will take place between 12pm and 3pm, and feature many attractions, including a rescue demonstration by the lifeboat and RNLI lifeguards, beach games, coastal rowing, sea safety advice, plus much more.
Kinghorn Lifeboat Station celebrates 60 years of saving lives on the Forth in 2025. In that time, the volunteer teams have launched on service nearly 2,000 times and saved over 400 lives.
Volunteer crewmember, Melanie McGarva said, ‘We look forward to welcoming you to our Diamond Jubilee Open Day. This promises to be a great day out for the whole family. We have many events on offer, including a rescue demonstration by the lifeboat and lifeguards, Newfoundland rescue dogs displaying their canine rescue skills, facepainting, burgers, teas, tombola, baking, crafts, RNLI shop, and ordering local fruit and vegetables from Greenheart Growers.
‘We will have beach games and activities for all ages which will be co-ordinated by the Fife Phantoms netball team, including competitions, races, tug’o’war and much more fun to be enjoyed!
'A team from Lost Shore Surf Resort, Ratho, who is a new partner of the RNLI will attend. Lost Shore, an urban surf resort has hosted a number of support events for the RNLI.
‘Andy’s Man Club, Ecology Centre, HM Coastguard, Kinghorn Scout Group, Kinghorn Coastal Rowers and Blood Bikes Scotland will also join us. Stormy Stan will appear for younger supporters.
‘Our crew will be on hand to chat about how to keep everyone safe whilst enjoying summer activities.
‘We will have live music from Dysart Colliery Band.
‘As one of Scotland’s busiest lifeboats, the station has been very busy with 70 taskings so far in 2025. Events such as our Open Day are vital to raise funds to maintain this service.’
We hope to see as many people there as possible!
