Find Your Float
Tomorrow, Friday 25 July, marks the 5th annual World Drowning Prevention Day since the 193 member states of the United Nations General Assembly unanimously voted to support the first-ever resolution on global drowning prevention.
To show our support for this important annual day, the Executive Team decided to ‘find their float’ in the Sea Survival Centre at the RNLI College last week. Sadly, I was unable to join them in the pool due to my damaged starboard wing, following shoulder surgery earlier in the year, but I am sure you will agree, they aptly rose to the challenge, and had some fun along the way!
This year, the RNLI is joining partners around the world and promoting action in countries to support World Drowning Prevention Day. In the UK and Ireland, we are encouraging everyone to 'find their float' and practise a survival skill we know has helped save lives. You can find out more about how to get behind this lifesaving campaign and download a collection of ready-to-use assets to share within your own networks.
I encourage you all to use this World Drowning Prevention Day as a moment to have a go at floating at a supervised location and inspire your friends and family to do so as well.
