Two Fowey RNLI crew qualify as lifeboat navigators
Fowey volunteer lifeboat crew Ross Jezard and Graham Middleton have successfully passed out as qualified navigators on the D class inshore lifeboat, after passing the two-part afloat and theory navigation assessment.
The role of ILB Navigator was introduced at the beginning of 2024, as part of the RNLI's new Operational Competency Framework that went live around the same time. Fowey’s weekly RNLI training exercises focus on teamwork, technical competence and safe operating procedures and every crew member follows a structured programme of competence-based training and assessment.
Fowey cox, Jonathan Pritchard said 'Well done to Ross and Graham for their dedication and hard work over the past months, preparing for the exam and assessments and successfully passing out. Congratulations from all at the station.'
