Wells RNLI present RNLI rose in memory of Anita Twine at Thorp House care home
Members of Wells RNLI visited Thorp House Care Home this week to present a special Peter Beales RNLI ‘With Courage’ rose in memory of Anita Twine, following her passing at the remarkable age of 105
Anita was a passionate supporter of the RNLI and a cherished member of the Thorp House community. In recognition of her incredible legacy, her name will be added to a RNLI Launch a Memory lifeboat — a lasting tribute to her dedication to saving lives at sea.
To commemorate Anita and others at Thorp House, a Celebration of Life Service was held at the home, celebrating Anita’s life and the amazing lives of all residents who have been lost.
The RNLI ‘With Courage’ rose was kindly donated by Peter Beales Roses. It will be planted in the gardens of Thorp House as a beautiful and lasting tribute to Anita's wonderful fundraising achievements for Wells RNLI and her lifelong support of the charity.
Jess Curtis Wells RNLI Press Officer wrote a heartfelt poem in Anita’s memory and expressed: ‘Anita was a truly inspiring woman whose dedication to the RNLI left a real mark on all of us. It was an honour to have celebrate her 105th birthday with her and to see the incredible community around her at Thorp House.’
James Betteridge, RNLI crew member at Wells, added: ‘We are proud to honour Anita’s memory in this way. Her support for the RNLI was inspiring, and we’re dedicated to continuing the close and valued bond between Wells Lifeboat Station and Thorp House.
‘Wells RNLI thanks the staff and residents of Thorp House for their continued support and extends its heartfelt sympathies to all who knew and loved Anita Twine.’
In Memory of Anita By Jess Curtis, Wells RNLI Press Officer
A life of kindness, brave and true, Anita Twine, we honour you. At 105, your journey ends, But in our hearts, your love transcends.
For years you gave, with heart so wide, To Wells RNLI, you stood with pride. Well into your 90s, you’d raise the call, Helping others, you gave your all.
From London’s streets to Norfolk’s shore, Your steps were steady, evermore. With Percy by your side, love strong, Together, you both sang life’s song.
In Wells you found your final place, Where laughter filled each cherished space. With gin in hand and joy to share, You spread your warmth, beyond compare.
A greyhound by your side, you thrived, In every season, you survived. You shared your life, your heart so free, A living lesson for all to see.
Your 100th year, a celebration grand, Surrounded by love, you took a stand. And though you're gone, your legacy stays, In every life you touched, always.
At Thorp House, you were adored, Where love and care you long implored. The staff, your friends, so full of cheer, Held you close and kept you near.
Now rest, Anita, your work is done, Your kindness woven, like the sun. The waves will carry your name with pride, And in our hearts, you’ll still reside.
