Lifeguard Supervisor Jack Ellis
Surfer and RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor Jack Ellis knows only too well how powerful and unpredictable the sea can be. But saving his friend’s life really brought it home.
‘Being a surfer, it’s easy to think of the ocean as a giant playground. But a Summer’s day back in 2013 reminds me to always proceed with caution.
‘That day a friend of mine, James Kelsall, swam down underwater and fell unconscious below the surface – I can’t be sure but I think it was because of the cold temperature of the water.’
