Through its Community Fund, Gwynt Y Môr Offshore Wind Farm has partnered with the RNLI for 5 years, has made a significant donation to support a new Flood Rescue Support Vehicle to be based at St Asaph, and is funding the training of volunteer crews at the following stations:
- Conwy
- Flint
- Llandudno
- Rhyl
Innogy Renewables UK’s Gwynt Y Môr Project Director, Toby Edmonds said: ‘The £19M Gwynt y Môr Community Fund will provide an opportunity to make a significant, long term and positive impact on sustainable development in Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire.
‘Using a portion of the Gwynt Y Môr Community Fund for the next five years, we have formed a new partnership with the RNLI to provide a Rescue Support Vehicle, based in North Wales, which can be deployed to incidents, across the region. The vehicle will be of great assistance to the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team, should they be called upon to assist communities in the event of devastating flooding. The funding will also support the training requirements of RNLI volunteers from Llandudno, Conwy, Rhyl and Flint lifeboat stations.
‘Through this partnership we look forward to continuing our work with the RNLI which has played a crucial part in the emergency response plan during the offshore construction of the wind farm. As Gwynt Y Môr moves into its operational phase we are delighted to be showing our thanks to the RNLI with this legacy.’
